Woodford reserve toasted oak oat grain
Woodford Reserve Toasted Oak oat grain is the second in a series of three ryes slated for release in 2017 as part of their Distillery Series. The Toasted Oak is made by finishing Woodford’s Master’s Collection Rye for an additional two years in fresh barrels that used to age Woodford Reserve Double Oaked bourbon.
TASTING NOTES
Offers up an aromatic nose of caramelized bananas foster. It has a very nice rye spice, drinking a bit hotter than its 86 proof suggests. Its heat is balanced by a significant vanilla presence, and its finish is long and warming. This is a hard to find release, but fans of big, spicy ryes are likely to find it worth the effort.
